September 2022

Greetings Nomads

Our September game at Sheppies once again proved to be one of the more popular and well supported monthly games. The course is as always a pleasure to play even if there are a few greens that lack a decent covering of grass. This only proved to be a minor putting adjustment , the wind being a huge influencer on the day but overall a decent and good test of golf for all.

We had a field of 66 players of which 3 were visitors. Our average points for the day was 30 of which only 12 players were above average and yes the crying towel went to our esteemed captain Shaka Langa who managed a solid 3 points to finish the day on 23 points. Well done to Jean-Marc who posted 35 to win the A div. who needs a handicap hey bud!

This month had the Sunshine Tour in town to do the South Coast swing from Selborne to San Lameer and finish at the Wild Coast. Now for the majority of the Nomads who have at some stage given of their time to Golforama to assist with the scoring they will know what a honour it is to be associated with the big boys and the tour. As the co- Ord for Golforama you have my undying respect and gratitude for  the commitment and hard work of the core workers who assisted in all 3 tournaments, Bob Hall, Ryan Keys, Howard Crouch, Ken Morris, John Pinnoy, Hilton McAuliffe, Andrew Imray, Basil King, jimmy Spear and Wally Kent. To everyone else who assisted me, and Southern Natal I thank you. We have a year to recoup and then we do it all over again.

Our October game is at Selborne and it would be nice to see a full field. Even better would be to have everyone who plays staying for the prize giving, ah yes we can but dream.

Till next time keep it on the fairway.
